FLORIDA ACADEMIC SCHOLAR COMMNITY SERVICE

POLICY

The process outlined below will be used by students and staff while arranging, completing, and documenting the seventy-five (75) or more hours of community service required of members of the class of 1997 and future classes to qualify for the Florida Academic Scholar Award.

I. The principal will designate staff member(s) who will serve as coordinator of this program. II. All freshman and transfer students will be advised of all requirements, including the

community service requirement, for the Florida Academic Scholar Award.

III. Each student seeking the award, in cooperation with designated staff member(s), will outline a plan of community service designed to meet the requirements of the Florida Academic Scholar Program.

IV. The principal or designee must approve all plans prior to implementation.

V. Upon completion of the project, the student will prepare a short written evaluation of the experience.

VI. The principal, or designee, will review service records and the written evaluation to determine when each student has met the community service requirement.
